With support for all participants, every kid can join the fun, learn from one another, and build meaningful friendships.

We would love to have your young leader participate as a Big Buddy for our Summer Adaptive Kickball League!

The YMCA Big Buddies Program is a mentorship-based recreational course designed for youth ages 12–17 who are passionate about helping others and eager to support Adaptive players. Participants will learn leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while assisting coaches and engaging with players in a fun, inclusive environment.

Big Buddies will help facilitate drills, encourage participation, and foster a positive atmosphere for all players. No prior coaching experience is required—just a willingness to be a role model. This program is perfect for teens looking to build community service hours, gain mentorship experience, or simply share their enthusiasm and positive attitude.

Important: Due to our interview process, all participants’ final acceptance in the program is ultimately up to YMCA Management.

After signing up, read the Confirmation Email carefully for the next steps. Potential Big Buddy Participants will need to schedule their phone interview through an online booking system. This is a no-stress, conversational interview to ensure that the program is a good fit — and will be great practice for young leaders!
