Waitlists

Each of our divisions have a registration capacity that is determined by the amount of court space and gym availability we have for practices and games. Once the capacity is reached, only waitlist registrations will be accepted. Registering for the waitlist does not guarantee a spot on a team. Please do not wait to register if you want to secure your child’s spot on a team. If you are removed from a waitlist and added to a team, you will be contacted by the YMCA. Communications regarding waitlist status may not receive a response due to a high volume of communications from league participants.

Coaching Information

We need volunteer coaches! No experience is required in order to coach. If you are interested in coaching, please email [email protected] or call 805-543-8235. Coaches are able to pick their practice day and time for their team. You can sign up to be a head or assistant coach. If we do not have enough head coaches, we will pair multiple assistant coaches together to share coaching responsibilities.

A mandatory coaches meeting for all coaches will be held in the Community Room at the SLO Public Library on TBD

*For 5^th/6^th Grade and 7^th/8^th Grade Coaches Only: There will be a coaches draft to select your teams on TBD

Team Formation

Our primary goal is to form teams that are evenly matched and fair. In an attempt to balance teams correctly, we cannot guarantee that requests for your child to be with specific coaches, or requests for children to be placed on same teams as other children will be fulfilled. Only coach’s and assistant coach’s own children are guaranteed to be on same team. Random team assignment, coupled with player ratings, is the only way to assure balanced teams. Reasons such as babysitters, carpool needs, practice days or location, coach likes or dislikes, and various other reasons are insufficient to support team assignment. We will consider one request per child and will do our best to fulfill that request, but if the request interferes with the ability to form fair teams then we will not be able to accommodate the request. No requests are guaranteed.

League Timeline

Participants can expect to hear from their coach and be notified of their team assignment and practice schedule starting the week of December 15^th. We cannot guarantee your child will be moved to another team if your assigned practice time does not work. Ability to attend practice will not affect your child’s playing time.

All practices will begin the week of TBD, as long as there is a coach for your team and contingent on the coach’s volunteer clearance status.

Games will begin on Saturday, TBD. The last game will occur on TBD. Picture day will occur during some of the first few games weekends- exact date TBD.

Beginning 2 weeks prior to practices, refunds will NOT be granted. Inability to attend practice is not an eligible reason for refund and will not affect your child’s participation in games.
